NFL to administer surveys to St. Louis residents via e-mail

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) --- On Tuesday the National Football League will administer surveys to 185,000 St. Louis football fans.

The surveys will be administered via e-mail and will ask respondents for their thoughts on the proposed plans to build a new NFL stadium in St. Louis.

Brian McCarthy, the vice president of communications for the NFL, said the survey will assess the possibility of a new stadium and figure out what location, seating and amenities locals would want in the stadium.  The survey will ask more than 100 questions ranging from their view on a new open-air stadium to what type of seats the stadium should have.

“In the course of any stadium process, such research is typically used to help assess the viability of stadium opportunities and inform how a stadium would be best built in a particular market,” McCarthy said.

The current stadium proposal calls for a new stadium to be built on the north riverfront in downtown St. Louis, just a few blocks northeast of the dome.

The NFL conducted a similar study in Los Angeles in October, but according to the LA Times, that survey only went out to about 2,000 people.

Officials with the NFL say they regularly conduct surveys in markets where new stadiums or teams are possible.
