ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A St. Louis man has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in a November 2014 homicide.

Dominique Whitfield, 21, of the 7800 block of Goya Place, is in the custody of U.S. Marshals on unrelated charges. A $1 million cash-only bond has been issued.

On Nov. 16, 2014, police were called to the 200 block of N. 17th Street. Police found the victim, Carlos Fowler, 27, of the 9200 block of Bataan, lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulder and buttocks.

Fowler was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed Fowler has been shot as he was standing outside of a store talking to a male suspect. A witness reported observing an altercation between Fowler and the suspect, Whitfield, before shots were fired.
