CALHOUN COUNTY, Ill.-- The Illinois Department of Transportation closed the Kampsville and Brussels Ferries Monday due to ice accumulation in the Illinois River.
The department announced that substantial ice formed within the river will delay the ferries reopening substantially and the closures will remain in effect until conditions improve enough to allow safe operation of all ferry services.
During the ferry closings, motorists are recommended to use the Hardin Bridge for access to Calhoun County.
