GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police have located a person of interest after a woman’s body was found inside a car in Granite City Wednesday evening.
Bill Bowen found the body of 35-year-old Stacie Williams in a car in the empty lot next to his home near 25th and Madison Avenue, just a block away from the police station.
"I walked over there and looked in and she was slumped over in the seat," said Bowen. "I yelled a couple times and got no response, she wasn't moving at all."
Bowen then ran inside his home and called the police at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Investigators have not said how Williams died or whether she was killed in the lot, or elsewhere.
Thursday morning, authorities located and took Cory Osborne into custody. While no arrests have been made, police said Osborne was the last person seen with Williams before her death.
According to court records, Osborne was arrested for domestic battery last month.
Police are calling Osborne a person of interest in the investigation, but have not elaborated on his connection to Williams.
