ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Slow pokes in the left lane had our viewers asking #Really!?!
We told you about them last.; now we're learning there's consequences for squatters that drive too slow in the fast lane.
The law is clear: Driving in the left lane is for passing only, but plenty of drivers ignore it. Turns out the Missouri Highway Patrol is not.
News 4 requested public records to find out how many tickets have been doled out, and over the past three years, more than 4,700 Missouri drivers got busted for clogging up traffic. In Illinois, a state with twice the population, only 300 tickets were issued during the same time
It's not just a local problem. In Iowa, one lawmaker just filed a bill to make it illegal to drive less than 10 miles per hour under the speed limit in the left lane. The proposed fine for doing so - $100.
