ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Two 18-year-old men were arrested after being caught allegedly stealing wheels and tires off of cars at the Dave Sinclair Buick GMC car dealership on South Lindbergh Boulevard.
"They're in and out of here, 20 minutes, tops," said Dan Sinclair, president of Dave Sinclair Buick GMC.
Edwin Romero and Israel Campos, who a security guard caught while they were allegedly trying to steal the tires and wheels, were charged with felony charges of Attempted Stealing Over $500.
While in police custody, Romero and Campos allegedly confessed to the crime, admitting plans to resell the stolen wheels and tires. Romero also confessed to a similar crime which occurred days earlier, adding an additional felony to the charges against him.
Sinclair Buick GMC is just one of the dealerships to fall victim to recent break-ins and thefts. On Christmas Day, a truck was stolen from Sinclair Ford and a car was stolen from Sunset Ford in January.
"The less attractive a target we can make ourselves, the less likely they are to come back," said Sinclair. "So far, they're not doing very well coming to our parking lots, because they keep getting locked up, so hopefully the word will spread."
Sinclair said the crime wave comes and goes and his lot has 24-hour a day security.
