DES PERES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A mother took her 2-year-old daughter into a Des Peres Schnucks while she and her boyfriend stole from the store Monday night, police said Tuesday.

The 30-year-old mother and her 31-year-old boyfriend entered the store on Manchester Road to steal liquor, police say.

While the suspects were inside the store, a Schnucks employee confronted the male suspect. The male suspect then ran out of the store with the child in his arms.

When the man got to the store’s parking lot, he was involved in a minor wreck. Following the crash, the suspect took the 2-year-old inside a nearby Qdoba Mexican Restaurant. Police located the suspect and took him into police custody at the restaurant.

The child was released to his mother later in the evening.

The child was not injured in the incident.

Des Peres Police have charged the man with stealing, child endangerment and leaving the scene. The suspect is also wanted for an unknown felony in St. Louis City.

The child’s mother was issued a summons for theft.
