MASSAC COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- While trying to clear roads Monday morning, an IDOT worker had to avoid gunshots fired at the vehicle he was operating.
An IDOT snowplow driver was plowing I-24 at approximately 10:55 a.m. when shots hit and shattered one of the truck's windows.
The suspects, who were in a black Chevy SUV, were taken into custody less than 20 minutes following the incident.
Two weapons were recovered from the vehicle and four of the five occupants of the SUV were charged.
Charges filed included unlawful use of a weapon, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license, illegal transportation of alcohol and no valid insurance.
The incident is still under investigation.
