Two allegedly knock on door, ask to use phone before robbing homeowner

(KMOV.com) - A St. Louis homeowner who was robbed at gunpoint inside his own living room feels he was set up, and now fears the crooks will strike again.

On Wednesday night, Herbert Watson was inside his house on Plover Ave. in north St. Louis when a woman knocked on the front door. Watson said he has seen the woman once before around the neighborhood. She asked for some food and money, but Watson told her he didn’t have any. Watson then let her use the phone before a man barged in the house with a gun.

“He demanded money from me, I told him I didn't have no money, and then he put the pistol on her and tried to get money from her,” said Watson.

Watson says the man and woman went through the home, eventually taking a purse and laptop before running away. He was not hurt. He said the robbery seemed planned.

“Police checked the phone number that she called and it wasn't even a complete phone number,” said Watson. “She did that I think to save time for her friend to get in here.”

The two unknown suspects have not been caught. Police are still investigating the robbery.
