MINNEAPOLIS, MN (CNN / CBS) -- Eleven kids survived a harrowing 14 minutes on Wednesday when the bus they were riding on lost control.
The driver of the bus had a medical emergency, lost control of the vehicle and couldn’t pull over. A sheriff's deputy noticed the bus weaving in and out of traffic and got ahead to alert oncoming traffic.
At one point the bus, traveling about 40 miles an hour, went into a ditch, almost tipped over, and somehow drove back onto the road. A state trooper eventually used stop sticks to get the bus to stop in a ditch.
The trip lasted about 14 minutes and covered roughly five-and-a-half miles.
None of the students were injured in the accident.
