ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com)- Organizers are reminding those planning on attending any Mardi Gras events, which get kicked off Friday with the Mayor's Ball, that cans, coolers, bottles and backpacks are not allowed and security will be checking throughout the weekend festivities.
"We want people to come and have a good time, but we want them to protect the neighborhood while they're here," said Mardi Gras Foundation President Mack Bradley. "People live here all year round. Don't do something in their neighborhood that would wouldn't want them doing in yours."
Mardi Gras generates $23 million for the local economy annually, about the same benefit as when St. Louis hosts the World Series.
