ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Wardell Davison Jr. has been sentenced to life in prison for a February, 2015 fatal shooting of a man during an attempted robbery in St. Charles.

In February, 2015, according to the probable cause statement, suspects in the murder drove a rental vehicle to the Crestview Apartments, where 17-year-old Melech Porter, 21-year-old Wardell Davison Jr., Dennis Baker, 23, and Lamont Ware, 21, entered a building and took an elevator to the second floor. 

The driver, Travon Johnson, 21, remained in the vehicle while the four others entered the building.

Davison Jr. entered the second floor room while pointing a gun at an occupant and Porter entered with him, while Ware and Baker remained in the hallway and held the elevator. 

The statement says that Davison Jr. held a gun to an occupants head, and while he did so, Porter began instructing the other occupants to empty their pockets. While Porter made demands, 38-year-old Charles Dishman was shot by Davison Jr, the statement says.

Davison Jr. and Porter then ran from the apartment with items stolen prior to the shooting. The five suspects then fled the area in the vehicle driven by Johnson. The victim was pronounced deceased up arrival at the hospital.

A weapon consistent with the weapon used in the crime was recovered, as well as the items stolen from the scene, which were in possession of the suspects. 

According to the probable cause statement, all five suspects were interviewed, where they confessed and corroborated each others' stories. All are charged with second degree murder, first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
