ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A 48-year-old man who was in critical condition after a Monday evening shooting died from those injuries, according to the St. Louis police.
Officers arrived to the 4500 block of North Kingshighway around 5:13 p.m Monday. Police said Michael Pankins, 48, was conscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim stated he had been shot, but did not give any other details.
Pankins was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical, but unstable condition. Pankins, of the 7500 block of Thelma, died several days later.
Witnesses reported observing the victim in a physical altercation with two suspects prior to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
