Multiple people injured in Fairview Heights crash

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The Fairview Heights Police Department is investigating a head-on collision Saturday night.

Authorities were called to the 6600 block of North Illinois after the driver of a Ford Mustang swerved across the center lane and collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, according to a witness.

A 39-year-old man and 18-year-old woman from East St. Louis had to be extricated from the Chevrolet Impala. Both of them were transported to a hospital via ARCH helicopter for multiple injuries and are listed in stable condition. A 14-year-old boy was also inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, he was taken to a hospital via ambulance where he was treated and released.  

The 31-year-old driver of the Mustang was taken a St. Louis hospital for injuries to his hand, back and legs. A 33-year-old woman and 3-year-old boy were also inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, they were taken to a hospital with injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
