Medora Fire Department chief killed after being run over by fire truck

(KMOV.com) – The Medora Fire chief was killed after he was run over by a fire truck while responding to a call, investigators say.

The incident happened on Route 111 near Chesterfield, Illinois. 59-year-old Chief Kenneth Lehr was helping clear a path for a helicopter to land when he was hit by a fire truck as it was backing up.

Lehr died at the scene. Illinois State Police are now investigating the incident.
