City of St. Louis to open Emergency Cold Weather shelter Wednesday

ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOV.com) – The city of St. Louis will open its Emergency Cold Weather Overflow Shelter Wednesday as snow and cold weather prepare to hit the St. Louis region.

The Overflow Shelter is located at the 12th and Park Recreation Center and will be open from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. until Thursday.

According to the office of St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, this winter season, shelter volunteers have provided a hot meal and a warm place to sleep for a total of 1,908 people over 17 nights.   

 

The project is a combined effort by several partners within the St. Louis community, including the American Red Cross, the Bridge, Metro, Salvation Army, St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Americorps, City of St. Louis Fire Department, St. Louis Winter Outreach Team and Windsor Transitional House.
