Two suspects in custody after attempting to rob pizza delivery driver

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV) – Two suspects were taken into custody early Saturday morning for attempting to rob a pizza delivery driver.

According to officials, the incident happened around 2:17 a.m. at the Domino's Pizza in the 5500 block of N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights, Illinois.   

The suspect, a 31-year-old man, approached the delivery driver who was sitting in his car.  The supsect pointed a gun at the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle and tried to gain the drivers attention.  When the victim did not respond, the suspect ran from the scene and was picked up by a car. 

Police say they were contacted after the suspects fled.  The victim followed the suspects into a nearby subdivision.

It was reported that officers spotted the suspects' vehichle two minutes after receiving the report.   Police stopped the car in the 5600 block of N. Illinios Street.  Officers said they found evidence in the suspect's car that linked them to the robbery.  The 31-year-old male suspect and 22-year-old female driver were arrested.

No injuries were reported. Formal charges are pending.
