BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV) – Belleville residents have less than a week to renew their wheel tax.
City officials say Thursday, June 30, will be the last day for anyone to pay the yearly fee required to drive their car.
The wheel tax costs $20, and Belleville officials say that any resident without the wheel tax sticker could be fined.
So far, Belleville lawmakers have collected $200,000 off the wheel tax, but the city is $300,000 short of its half-million dollar revenue projection.
The City of Belleville approved the tax last April to help offset budget deficits.
