Last night I told you about the possible fee for rental property owners in O'Fallon, Illinois. City leaders hope that a $50 dollar charge will help them implement the Crime Rental Housing Program. The purpose of the program is reduce emergency's to rental properties and the money would be used to have increased police patrols, crime prevention training for property owners and inspections. Tonight, we're learning that owners of hotels and motels may also have to pay the fee if they rent a room for 14 days or more. The owner of Settle Inn & Suites says the hardest part of the ordinance is that it is hard to predict how long guests will stay. The Settle Inn & Suites has 96 rooms.
What are your thoughts about the program?
