Alleged drunk driver thrown from vehicle in Metro-East crash

(KMOV) -- A Fenton, Missouri man was seriously injured in an early morning crash.
 
The accident happened just after 6:00 a.m. on Monday on the ramp from Route 3 onto the Poplar Street Bridge in St. Clair County, Illinois.
 
According to Illinois State Police, the driver, Anthony Hatley, 25, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
 
Investigators say Hatley drove his truck into the wall on the approach to the Poplar Street Bridge several times. He then drove his truck the wall of the ramp onto the bridge, was ejected from his vehicle and hit the wall.
 
Hatley suffered severe head injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police say Hatley was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
 
John Sikorski, 29, a passenger in Hatley’s truck, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
 
Hatley was charged with driving under the influence.
