OSAKA, Japan (AP) -- Former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder So Taguchi is returning to Japan to play with his original professional team.
The Orix Buffaloes announced Saturday they have reached an agreement with the 40-year-old Taguchi although terms of the contract were not released.
After six seasons in St. Louis, Taguchi played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. He played six games for the Chicago Cubs in 2009 before being released at the end of the season.
Taguchi is a career .279 hitter over eight seasons in the majors with 19 home runs and 163 RBIs in 672 games. He spent 10 seasons with Orix before joining St. Louis in 2002 as a free agent.
