CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- Both Democrats in the increasingly bitter race for Illinois governor are denying they went on the attack by airing new, negative ads.
Gov. Pat Quinn has launched a new ad accusing his opponent of overlooking a shocking cemetery scandal that involved bodies being desecrated and dumped.
But at a debate Thursday night, Quinn denied running any attack ads. Quinn says he's just defending himself.
And rival Democrat Dan Hynes is airing an ad featuring the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington harshly criticizing Quinn.
Hynes also says the commercial is not an attack ad.
He says it's based in fact and gives voters important information.
