CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- Homicides, rapes and other serious crimes in St. Louis County have dropped 12 percent.
St. Louis County Police said Thursday that crimes in the parts of the county that its officers protect have dropped to the second lowest amount in 20 years.
The numbers pertain to unincorporated parts of St. Louis County and the municipalities that depend on the county for policing.
County Executive Charlie Dooley credited proactive programs and partnerships between county police and various communities.
Other municipalities in the county do their own policing.
