Manchester police arrest 3 suspects in check counterfeiting, identity theft scheme

(KMOV)—Manchester police have arrested 3 suspects after a multi state check counterfeiting and identity theft scheme.

Authorities said the three suspects were arrested at Wal-Mart in the 200 block of highlands Blvd. after a female suspect purchased items with a counterfeit check. Arrested were 23-year-old Stacey Clayton, of Jackson, FL., 24-year-old Trenton Garrett, of Houston, TX, and 35-year-old Fredric Rahming, of Houston, TX.
 
Authorities found over $5,000 worth of merchandise and cash inside the suspects’ vehicle along with numerous fake driver’s licenses and counterfeit checks. Some of the accounts were fake and some were discovered to be actual accounts in which unknowing victims had their identity stolen.
 
Investigators have been able to track the crime spree to Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and Missouri to include the cities of Manchester, Chesterfield, Ellisville, Lake St. Louis, and Columbia. Tuesday afternoon federal authorities joined the investigation.
