This morning we went to Scott Air Force Base. Last night troops worked away to send a C-17 cargo plane to Haiti. The C-17 is a massive plane. The plane can carry 530-thousand pounds. Last night troops loaded up the plane with 40-thousands pounds of relief packages, several vehicles, and enough food and water to last for two weeks. We are told a specialized rescue crews has been sent tho Haiti to help dig victims who are still trapped in the rubble. News Four talked to Major Melissa Steckler who tells us the troops are excited and eager to get to Haiti and help the victims out. The C-17 will not only deliver supplies, but crews will also use the plane to pick up victims in need of medical attention and transport them to a hospital.
