ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Several events are planned in St. Louis on Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
About 1,000 volunteers, some as young as 13, will clean and paint schools, weatherize homes, beautify neighborhoods and offer financial education workshops as part of a Day of Service in honor of the civil rights leader.
Speeches and a variety of other events are planned at colleges and universities around the St. Louis area.
A celebration co-hosted by churches in north St. Louis County will include three choirs and a recreation of King's "I Have a Dream" speech. And the St. Louis Art Museum observance will include dancers and gospel music.
