Twenty Year Old From East St. Louis Charged with Murder in North County
On Thursday, January 14, 2010, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued warrants on Shafthianos Hudson Jr., 20 years of age, of the 1300 block of St. Vita, East St. Louis, Illinois for one count of Murder in the 2nd Degree and one count of Armed Criminal Action. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only. A photo of Hudson is attached and can be viewed online.
On Sunday, January 10, 2010, St. Louis County Police and Detectives responded to the intersection of Glen Owen Drive and Nemnich Avenue, for a call of shots fired. Responding officers found Joseph L. Davis, 18 years of age of the 1200 block of Edgewater, St. Louis, Missouri 63137, shot while in the driver side of a 2001 Mazda 626. Hudson is charged with shooting Davis after a car chase. It is believed that Hudson and Davis were strangers involved in a sales transaction that lead to an altercation and the chase. The victim, Joseph Davis, died at the scene. Shafthianos Hudson was apprehended on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 6:30 PM in north St. Louis City by St. Louis County Detectives.
St. Louis County Police Chief Timothy Fitch stated "I commend the actions of the officers and detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and Crime Scene Unit who were able to identify and apprehend a suspect. Their dedication and investigation skills led to the quick removal of an armed violent individual from our streets."
