Swine flu shots for Missouri health chief, Dooley

PINE LAWN, Mo. (AP) -- It is National Influenza Vaccination Week, and Missouri's health chief is getting a swine flu shot during a visit to St. Louis County.

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services director Margaret Donnelly will get her vaccination at 11 a.m. Friday at the North Central Community Health Center in Pine Lawn. Also getting vaccinated will be St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley and perhaps other elected officials and community leaders.

The state health department says the flu season has been "brutal" this year, mostly because of the swine flu virus. Through Jan. 9, Missouri health care providers have documented more than 28,000 flu cases this year. Last year, there were 352 over the same period.
