ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis podiatrist has pleaded guilty to a federal charge for falsely billing Medicare and Medicaid.
David Quang Pham pleaded guilty Thursday to obstruction of justice. He will be sentenced April 9.
Federal prosecutors say Pham, who is 50, created fake medical records after learning he was under investigation for health care fraud. Pham submitted false claims and false medical records to Medicare and Missouri HealthNet for at least five years.
In some cases, the U.S. Attorney's office says Pham submitted reimbursement claims for treating the feet of patients whose feet had, in fact, been amputated.
Pham provided services to patients at nursing homes and residences for older adults.
