ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Northside Youth and Senior Service Center Inc. Is reaching out for help after thieves ransacked the center over the weekend, causing $10,000 in damage.

According to agency officials, someone broke into the Center and stole electronics, food, and children’s toys. The burglars are also accused of smashing windows and vandalizing the center, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage.

In a press release, Sandra Norman, the Executive Director of Northside, said, “It’s painful because so many neighborhood children look forward to coming here after school. During the daytime, we have a large group of seniors that gather and enjoy activities and a hot meal.” She added, “Unfortunately, today we will have the painful duty of turning so many children and seniors away and informing them that many programs will not be able to resume until we have repaired damages and replaced the items that have been taken.”

The Center has a security and surveillance system which is currently being reviewed by police.

Northside Youth and Senior Service Center is the 4 Warn Storm Team’s current partner for the 4 Degree Guarantee, meaning the center gets a donation for every accurate forecast.
