WASHINGTON, D.C (KMOV.com) – The parents of Mike Brown joined Rev. Al Sharpton for a civil rights rally in Washington, D.C.
Brown’s parents say they are planning on traveling the country, calling for the federal government to take over the investigation into the death of their son.
“I am here to try and make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else’s family,” said Michael Brown Sr. “This is very terrible for us and for everyone else that has lost. We are here to get justice and we need your help.”
Also attending the rally was the mother of Eric Garner, the New York City man who died after being put in a chokehold by a police officer. Leaders from the National Urban League, The National Action Network, The Black Women’s Roundtable, and the NAACP are calling for congressional hearings and special prosecutors in the case.
