ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police say a mother died while protecting her daughter from a vehicle in a south St. Louis Walgreens parking lot.
Police confirm 33-year-old Colleen Segbers was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Gravois and Holly Hills. The St. Louis Fire Department said the woman died at the scene.
Police said Segbers was walking out of the store with her 10-year-old daughter when a vehicle jumped a curb near the entrance to the store. A woman's vehicle started rolling towards the building and the driver mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake, according to police. Segbers then pushed her daughter out of the way and was struck by the vehicle. The daughter was not injured.
Police said their accident reconstruction team has been called to the scene. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police.
