EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Amid sexual harassment allegations, East St. Louis Assistant Police Ronald Ike resigned from the department, according to a news release Monday from the mayor's office.
An independent investigator conducted an investigation into those allegation of sexual harassment. The results were reportedly shared with Ike, who then offered his unconditional resignation.
A 24-year-old woman filed a complaint against Ike after she says he sexually assaulted her. The woman, a former participant of the Emerson Park Summer Youth Program, says the alleged assault happened during the first day of her internship.
“We have someone we work with on a regular basis to do background checks and polygraphs for our city employees,” City Manager Deletra Hudson said earlier this month. “This is the same person I am having do the investigation for the city.”
