Teenager killed, 2 transported after stolen vehicle crashes

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A teenager riding in a stolen vehicle was killed in a car accident on North Kingshighway early Monday morning.  

The call came out around 3:00 a.m. for an accident in the 1600 block of North Kingshighway.

Witnesses told police they saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed approaching Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when the driver lost control and struck a tree on the corner of North Kingshighway.

Police say the driver ran from the vehicle and has not been identified.

Three people were transported to an area hospital following the accident. Authorities say 16-year-old Darrell Tunstall was pronounced dead at the hospital. The two other injured passengers are currently listed in stable condition.

Police say the vehicle involved in the accident was stolen.

 

The investigation is ongoing.
