Man accused of assault, pointing gun at officer released without posting bond

(KMOV.com) – News 4 has learned a man who is facing charges of second degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action was released from jail without having to post bond.
Esrail Britton, 19, is accused of pointing a gun at an officer near the intersection of Chambers Road and Sheffingdell Court in Dellwood August 13. Police said they shot Britton, who survived.
According to court documents, bond was initially set for $200,000 cash only. Six days after the shooting, a motion was filed for a change of judge. Judge Mary Bruntrager Schroeder then took over the case. Two weeks later, Britton was released from custody on certain conditions.
Britton is required to participate in the pre-trial release program, only live with his father, and rigorously attend and participate in physical therapy.
News 4 attempted to contact Schroeder, but she did not return multiple calls.
