ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Two people were taken to a hospital after a motorcyclist popped a wheelie, causing an accident on Interstate 64 on Saturday.
The accident happened around 3:50 p.m. during the "Ride of the Century," an annual motorcycle ride in St. Louis. One of the motorcyclists popped a wheelie, crossed into another lane, and hit another person on a motorcycle.
The rider, Ian Boyher, 28, and passenger, Audrey Holland, 27, were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The motorcyclist who caused the accident fled the scene. Authorities say the ride had about 200 motorcyclists.
In 2013, "Ride of the Century" motorcyclists were caught on camera running red lights, doing stunts down highways, and driving on the wrong side of the road. More than 50 riders were arrested and 66 motorcycles were towed. One participant died when he crashed into an unmarked police car.
The investigation is ongoing.
