ARNOLD, MO. (KMOV.com) – State auditors will begin investigating the Fox School District and former Superintendent Diane Critchlow for misuse of tax funds on Monday.
Officials say Critchlow has spent thousands of taxpayer dollars by using the district credit cards bills for travel, restaurants, and items that appear to be for personal use.
“The purpose of those district credit cards is for district purposes,” said Acting Superintendent Tim Crutchley. “If we find out if there was wrong doing, let us correct it, whatever that is, restitution, charges, or whatever form that takes.”
Before stepping down, Critchlow returned four digital cameras, two cell phones, multiple cell phone cases, softball bats, an airbrush paint system, two iPads, a $100 designer iPad case, and thousands of dollars spend at restaurants. It was also reported that one credit card was used to donate $240 to the Missouri School Administrators Political Action Committee, which is illegal.
“The purpose is to determine whether any misappropriation of funds or fraudulent transaction took place,” said Chief Financial Officer of the Fox School District John Brazeal. “Such as buying things with district funds for personal purposes.”
The investigation will begin Monday.
