FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The Missouri Highway Patrol arrested a 23-year-old man after a Franklin County accident that killed a teenager waiting for a school bus.
Police said a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Ethan Humphries was traveling on Missouri 30, one mile east of the Meramec River near St. Clair when it left the roadway around 7:00 Friday morning. The car then struck and killed Donald Tipton, 15, before overturning and coming to a stop. Tipton was waiting for a school bus near his mailbox.
Humphries was arrested and charged with manslaughter, armed criminal action and vehicular assault. Police said he was driving his vehicle at a high-rate of speed before the accident.
Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol said two other cars, who were traveling with Humphries, were also speeding. The driver's of those vehicles were also arrested. Their names have not been released.
Humphries and a 23-year-old passenger in his vehicle were both injured and taken to St. Louis area hospitals.
