FOLEY, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man says 'God told him' to steal a truck and burglarize a Lincoln County home, according to police.

Jeffrey Smith, 38, of St. Louis, is suspected of stealing a truck from a home in the 100 block of Morgan Valley Lane in Foley, Missouri on Monday.

Police say a neighbor arrived home and noticed his garage door open and his Ford F-150 missing. During the investigation, police say another neighbor called and told him the missing truck was in his yard a few blocks away and an unknown man was in his house wearing his clothing.

Smith told investigators ‘God made him do it,' police say.

Smith is being held on First Degree Burglary, Second Degree Burglary, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and stealing. He is currently in the Lincoln County Jail under a $50,000 cash only bond.
