ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Steve Harris met a woman from Collinsville, Illinois who is making a big difference by giving the gift of music to children who can’t afford it themselves.
Kristofer Robertson is an 11-year-old with big dreams of creating an album one day, which is why he applied for a musical class at Webster University.
“We was blessed to get in and then come to find out, you need something to practice with at home. I didn’t have anything, I can’t afford it,” said Kentura Robertson, Kristofer’s mom.
That is when Samantha Fisher with ‘Play it Forward’ stepped in. Fisher’s organization finds people with instruments they no longer use and give them to kids whose parents could not afford to buy them.
‘Play it Forward’ gave Kristofer a keyboard, amp and a guitar.
“When we give them these instruments and tell them ‘this is yours now, you own it’ the look of pride on their face is just wonderful,” Fisher said.
