(KMOV) – A Wentzville man faces charges after police say he let his 13-year-old operate a vehicle on Saturday because he was too drunk to drive.

David Mooneyham, 46, was charged with child endangerment and permitting an unlicensed person to drive.

According to police, an officer was patrolling eastbound Interstate 70 around 7:50 p.m. when he spotted a silver GMC pickup drift onto the shoulder near the Foristell overpass.

The officer eventually stopped the vehicle and discovered it was being driven by the child. Police say the officer smelled alcohol and found Mooneyham in the passenger seat.

Police say Mooneyam, who blew a 0.139 BAC at the scene, allowed the child to drive because he had drank too much.
