(KMOV) -- Police say Craig Wood, the Springfield, Mo. man accused of kidnapping and killing 10-year-old Haley Owens, is now asking for statements he made to police be thrown out.
According to police, Owens' body was found inside of Wood’s home on Feb. 20, one day after the girl was reported missing.
Wood, 45, was later charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and child kidnapping in the case. The murder booking came just hours after police announced they had arrested Wood in Owens' abduction.

Wood’s attorney says Wood asked police many times to stop questioning him so he could consult with an attorney.
According to court documents, Wood was intoxicated and going through emotional and psychological issues when he was arrested.
Prosecutors say it is routine in many cases.
