Police arrived on scene and found Brown holding a knife in one hand and what appeared to be a gun in the other. He then threatened the officers, who tried convincing him to put the weapons down.

Brown did not listen and officers used a Taser on him, but it was ineffective.

Police say Brown kept threatening officers while walking towards them. That’s when one of the officers opened fire, hitting Brown. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The officer, a 13-year veteran, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

Police have not yet identified the suspect.
