(KMOV) – A University City man faces charges after police say he tried to run over an officer during an undercover drug bust.
Kelvin Dorries, 26, was charged Thursday with two counts of second-degree attempted assault on a police officer, two counts of armed criminal action, possession of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance. Another suspect, Travis Bradley, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance in the case.
According to police, undercover officers agreed to buy $40 worth of marijuana from Dorries and Bradley at a home in the 6800 block of Corbitt on Tuesday.
Police say officers tried to arrest the suspects as they approached the undercover officer’s vehicle, but Bradley ran inside a nearby home while Dorries got into vehicle.
Police say an officer told Dorries to get out of the car, but be looked over his shoulder and revved his engine. He then accelerated the vehicle, almost hitting two officers.
Dorries was eventually arrested and more than 35 grams were later found inside his vehicle. Police say officers took Bradley into custody after finding a bag of heroin in the home.
Police say two others are also charged in connection with the case.
