(KMOV) – Police have formally charged one of two women allegedly involved with the kidnapping of another woman after robbing a store at Chesterfield Mall on March 21. But authorities say another suspect in the case remains at large.
Authorities say they arrested Johnson Antwinette Chelsea on Wednesday and charged her with stealing, a third offense felony.
According to police, Chelsea and another woman, 22-year-old Cierra Baker, were in the mall’s H&M store when they were confronted by a security guard when trying to leave. Baker then allegedly reached into her purse, grabbed a can of mace and sprayed the security guard.
The suspects fled the store, separating in the parking lot. Authorities say Baker then assaulted a woman sitting in her car and jumped into the passenger seat. She took the woman’s cell phone and forced her to drive to a gas station in the Big Bend Rd. and Interstate 64 area. Baker then made the woman wait until getting picked up by another vehicle.
Police say the public helped them locate Chelsea. They say Baker remains on the loose.
Authorities say Baker is believed to regularly visit the 5100 block of Highland Ave. and the surrounding areas.
Police said Baker will face charges of kidnapping and robbery if she is caught. The other suspect will face shoplifting charges.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Chesterfield police at 636-537-3000 or St. Louis Crimestoppers at 314-725-TIPS.
