Cards try to break Brewers big streak

Sure, the Cardinals just wrapped up a 4-2 home stand against the Reds and Cubs.  Sure, they’re a couple games over .500 and playing well overall.

You’ll have to excuse the Brewers if they’re not too impressed.  Milwaukee has won nine straight games leading up to its three game series with the Cards today at Miller Park.

Yes, nine games.  Are the Brewers on fire or what?

“Ya they are,” Kolten Wong said. “We’re excited to go in there and try and stop this train that’s coming at us. They’re playing really good baseball thus far and it’s important for us to go in there and continue to do what we do.”

“They got a good team and they’re playing well,” Matt Carpenter said. “They’re hot right now but so are we.  We’re playing well so I like our chances.  We’re going to have to go in there and be ready to go.”

Milwaukee is 10-2 thanks largely to the lowest team ERA in Major League Baseball (1.80).  They also have a top five offense with regards to batting average in all of baseball as well.  The Cards are much further down the list in ERA (they’re 16th with a 3.94) and are right in the middle of the pack offensively thanks to a slow start.

We’ll find out shortly how good the Brewers are over these next few days.
