(KMOV.com) –  A former Troy, Ill. elementary school teacher recently plead child sex assault charges.

Jason Ehlers, 36, of Bethalto, Ill., pleaded guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, one count of criminal sexual assault, three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

At the time of his arrest, Ehlers was a second grade teacher at the Silver Creek Elementary School in Troy, Illinois.

Ehlers previously had taught in the Bethalto school district and served as an administrator in the Southwestern Community Unit School District #9.

According to police, Ehlers had sex with a child under the age of 13 sometime between September 2010 and March 2011. Police said Ehlers also had having sex with a child under the age of 18 sometime between July 2011 and July 2012.

Administrators in Troy say they do not believe the allegations involve any current or former students in that district.
