Former National Guard accused of stealing in attempt to deprive Army base

(KMOV) – St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office charged Michael W. Morrison, 24 with a count of theft of governmental property.

Allegations against Morrison include: knowingly exerting unauthorized control over peroperty of the Illinois Army and Air National Guard, stealing tools from the field maintenance shop, and having a total value in excess of $500 with the intent to permanently deprive the Illinois Army and Air National Guard use of said property.

The thefts occurred in the National Guard Armory building in East St. Louis between September 2013 to December 2013.

Morrison is not in custody at this time. Bail on theft charges was set at $25,000.
