ST. LOUIS – With the Open Enrollment deadline looming for the Marketplace, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri’s (LSEM) www.lsem.org new Marketplace Assistance Program http://www.lsem.org/index.php/lsem-services/marketplace-assistance-program/ will be holding five free Health Insurance Marketplace (Marketplace) open enrollment events this month. The open enrollment period ends on February 15.
At some of these events, LSEM will be partnering with the Gateway EITC Community Coalition (GECC) http://gatewayeitc.org/, a non-profit organization that provides free tax preparation for people who qualify.
“We are pleased to partner with GECC,” said Lucas Caldwell-McMillan, Project Manager for the Marketplace Assistance Program. “Because this is the first year people will face a penalty for not having insurance, there are opportunities for Marketplace outreach and enrollment at these three events. We’ll be there to help with those Marketplace enrollments and issues that do come up.”
The following is the schedule for the LSEM events:
• 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, February 6, St. Louis Public Library, Barr Branch (1701 S. Jefferson, St. Louis, Mo., 63104) (with GECC).
• Noon to 5 p.m. Monday, February 9, St. Louis Public Library, Divoll Branch (4234 N. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, Mo., 63107).
• 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, February 13, St. Louis Public Library, Barr Branch (1701 S. Jefferson, St. Louis, Mo., 63104) (with GECC).
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, Lincoln University (9401 Riverview Dr., St. Louis, Mo., 63137) (with GECC).
Joining Caldwell-McMillan at these events will be Mary Sweet, new LSEM Outreach and Enrollment Specialist, along with team of attorneys and advocates. They will be on hand to provide one-on-one assistance with the Marketplace and answer key questions.
“Re-enrollment is critical for those coming back to the insurance Marketplace,” McMillan said. “These events will help everyone stay on a healthy course.”
