POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Poplar Bluff Police Department is investigating after a person was shot during an armed robbery Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses told police they were inside a home in the 1600 block of Sanders Street when two suspects wearing dark clothes and masks broke in through the front door. The witnesses told police the suspects showed a semi-automatic rifle and a semi-automatic pistol. The suspects then shouted “give us everything.”

As the suspects searched the home, they discharged their firearms several times and shouted “tell us where it’s at, or next time we won’t miss,” according to witnesses. One of the shots fired by the suspects struck a 27-year-old man in the back.

The witnesses reported nothing was taken during the armed robbery.

While investigating the scene, detectives found 2-pounds of marijuana, with an estimated value of $7,000, inside the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
